On 30.m September, 11 hours after the Czechoslovakian government agreed to the Munich terms, Poland issued an ultimatum to the Czechoslovakian government. It demanded the immediate evacuation of Czechoslovakian troops and police and gave Prague until noon the next day. On 1 October at 11:45 a.m. .m. the Czechoslovak Foreign Ministry called the Polish ambassador in Prague to tell him that Poland could get what it wanted, but then asked for a 24-hour delay. On 2 October, the Polish army, under the command of General W. Bortnowski, annexed an area of 801.5 km2 with 227,399 inhabitants. The attached area was divided between Frysztat County and Cieszyn County. At the same time, Slovakia lost 10,390 km2 to Hungary, which has a population of 854,277.
Under the Munich Agreement, the entire territory, mainly German, was to be returned to Czechoslovakia by 10 October. Poland and Hungary occupied other parts of the country and, after a few months, Czechoslovakia ceased to exist and what was left of Slovakia became a German puppet state. The Czechoslovakians were appalled by the colony of Munich. They were not invited to the conference and felt betrayed by the British and French governments. Many Czechs and Slovaks describe the Munich agreement as a Munich diktat (Czech: Mnichovska diktéta); in Slovak: Mnechovska diktét). The phrase „Munich betrayal“ (Czech: Mnichovska zrada; In Slovak: Mnechovska zrada) is also used because Czechoslovakia`s military alliance with France proved useless. This is also reflected in the fact that the French government, in particular, had considered that Czechoslovakia would be held responsible for any European war that would result if the Czechoslovak Republic defended itself by force against German abuses. In 1938, the Soviet Union was allied with France and Czechoslovakia. In September 1939, the Soviets were in every respect a fighter with Nazi Germany, due to Stalin`s fears that a second Munich agreement with the Soviet Union would replace Czechoslovakia. Thus, the agreement indirectly contributed to the outbreak of war in 1939. GERMANY, the United Kingdom, France and Italy have agreed on the following conditions of compliance and the measures that result from them, taking into account the agreement already reached in principle for the transfer of the German territory of the Sudetenland to Germany, and, through this agreement, they are responsible for the measures necessary to implement them. : The Munich Accords were a surprisingly successful strategy for NSDAP leader Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) in the months leading up to World War II.
The agreement was signed on 30 September 1938, when the powers of Europe willingly abandoned Nazi Germany`s demands that the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia maintain „peace in our time“. The economic consequences of the Munich agreement will certainly be very severe for Czechoslovakia.
